Whether you’ve planned to hold a wedding this summer or you have a few invitations pinned to the fridge, all of them have been affected by the outbreak of COVID-19 in one way or another. We know that many people have had to cancel or postpone their weddings, and many others have decided to get married with the digital support of their friends and family.
As operators of the Top Rated Local® wedding venues in Houston, our hearts go out to all of the soon-to-be-married couples, as well as their friends and family members. Nothing can take the place of a traditional in-person wedding, but we hope that today’s post will give you hope. Today’s post features a few things we can still do despite the situation unfolding across the globe.
Before we begin, we would like to give you a brief update about how Alegria Gardens is responding to this crisis. At the time of writing this post, we are open during our normal business hours with 25% capacity. On May 18, we plan to expand this to 50% capacity per the recommendations of Governor Abbott and the CDC. We are taking as many sanitation precautions as we can to keep our staff and guests safe. Please keep up with our Facebook page for the latest updates.
Wedding Celebrations in 2020
Some couples — like many who will be coming to Alegria Gardens later this month — aren’t going to let social distancing rain on their wedding day. While they do have to cut the guest list down due to capacity guidelines, they are able to see and be in the presence of their friends and family. As mentioned above, we are taking extraordinary care to keep all of our guests safe when they choose to get married at Alegria Gardens!
Some people are no longer able to attend weddings due to event cancellations, travel concerns, and financial constraints. We’ve been impressed by the number of couples around the country who are choosing to have their entire guest list show up digitally while they tie the knot! Of course, they plan to celebrate in the company of their loved ones when everyone is able, but a digital celebration is a celebration nonetheless!
If you’ve watched the news lately, then you’ve probably been impressed by the relentless optimism and ingenuity of Americans across the country. Birthdays, weddings, and other special events have been celebrated with parade-like streams of cars that drive by a home or destination as a special person or couple is celebrated. In a time when almost nothing is conventional, it’s a breath of fresh air to see people loving and celebrating each other in any way they can.
